Annamaria Butterworth, soprano

Annamaria began her musical education in Australia where she completed her Diploma of Music in Vocal Performance at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Singing as Cantor and Soprano Soloist for St. Stephens Cathedral Brisbane led her to further engagements and the city’s Young Artist Concert Series. Annamaria continued her postgraduate education at The Victorian College of the Arts, Masterclasses at the Australian Academy of Music and at the University of Melbourne she completed her Masters of Music Studies. Under the tutelage of Anna Connolly she was finalist in several Opera Foundation Australia competitions; The Metropolitan Opera Study Scholarship, the National Opera Studio Scholarship, a recipient of the Lady Galleghan Encouragement Award and winner of the Herald Sun Aria Competition. Annamaria has appeared with the Opera Australia Chorus (Tosca, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni) and in studio excerpts as Countess- The Marriage of Figaro and as Sandmanchen -Hansel and Gretel.  Annamaria currently studies with Soprano Lillian Watson and is a Concordia Foundation Artist for 2008.
