Support us so that we can support others

Given the successes, it is clear that there is more that the Concordia Foundation could do, building upon its strong achievements. To help the Concordia Foundation, you could:

Give a donation

Donations, large or small, are always valuable. Even though Gillian donates her performances, every activity costs money. Our aim is not just to cover the cost of every performance but also to raise funds to support the continuing work of the Concordia Foundation and support other charities. This is a rough guide to some of our costs:

  • £25 is the minimum annual donation we ask of our Friends; it covers the cost of a half hour lesson for a young music student;
  • £50 pays for one session of casual help in the office;
  • £100 pays the fee for a young orchestral musician;
  • £250 covers the cost of the hire of music for an orchestral concert;
  • £500 contributes towards two weeks' tuition for one student at music summer school;
  • £1,000 hires a venue, such as St John's Smith Square in London, for a concert;
  • £2,500 covers the cost of an educational rehearsal and performance of a small ensemble of musicians, actors and singers;
  • £5,000 enables four artists or opera singers to rehearse for a project such as Vietnam;
  • £10,000 covers musicians' fees and expenses and hire of music for an orchestral concert.

Help us put on a performance

If you have spare time, specialist skills or a large room in which an event could take place you could help bring a performance alive. Whether you live in the UK or abroad, you could become involved in the Concordia Foundation - Gillian travels round the world on Cunard Seabourne ships so performances could be staged during stopovers; otherwise, she is happy to fit in extra visits abroad for special performances. Wherever you are you could:

  • Chair or join the organising committee or bring together a group of friends to help you;
  • Undertake specific tasks that you do well and enjoy;
  • Encourage friends to buy tickets;
  • Host the event in your home or office or encourage others with large spaces to do so.

Sponsor an event or part of an event

There are many options for companies or organisations considering sponsorship:

  • Sponsor an event, venue or exchange visit in a country important to your business;
  • Sponsor economy class travel or reasonable accommodation costs for performers;
  • Sponsor costumes or stage sets or the production and distribution of programmes;
  • Sponsor food and/or drink at special events;
  • Sponsor the Concordia Foundation to perform at a corporate event;
  • Sponsor a charitable event, raising funds for the charity and the Concordia Foundation.

Set up a specialist group of Friends
  If you know several people who would like to support us, why not bring them together in a specialist group of Friends - such as The American Friends of Concordia - and organise events which would appeal specifically to them and their wider circle.

Promote us to others

  • Identify and contact individuals, companies or charities who might like to work with us;
  • Encourage people you know to play a part in our activities;
  • Encourage people you know to become Friends of the Concordia Foundation.
