Patti, Patti, Patti

An internationally acclaimed musical biography of the 19th century diva, Adelina Patti, the legendary "Queen of Song". Adored by the public, the colourful singer enjoyed a career of unrivaled length and brilliance. Verdi, when asked to name his three favourite sopranos,
exclaimed "Adelina, Adelina, Adelina!" and it is this comment that inspired Gillian to devise, with Michael Fry, a programme of music and songs reminiscing about the life and work of Adelina Patti, her various husbands and family members and her tempestuous American tours. Gillian Humphreys portrays Adelina Patti in sumptuous period costume in a setting which echoes Patti's home, Craig-Y-Nos Castle, Wales. Performed at the Thomasville Arts Festival, Georgia, USA and the Corcoran Art Gallery, Washington DC, USA in September 2000.
