Semitic Harmonies

A musical journey into middle eastern culture and creativity which was performed at St John's, Smith Square in January 1999 with three international musicians, each born in the Middle East. Introducing the concert, Wissam Boustany (flute) said:

"If peace is about people's attitudes and hearts softening towards each other, then music is undoubtedly one of the strongest catalysts for this, independent of any political process that may or may not be in place. Let music be a reminder to us all that people from the Middle East are continuously seeking opportunities to work together for a better and more peaceful existence. For centuries music has played a major role in softening the perceived differences between people around the world. May music live to continue converting inspired thought into inspired reality, for our fragile planet."
