Sarah studied cornet, trumpet and saxophone at the Royal Northern College
of Music and graduated with Professional Performance Diplomas in both
woodwind and brass, the first musician ever to do so. Her teachers
have included Gerard McChrystal and John Harle (saxophone) and Howard
Snell, John Wallace and James Watson (trumpet). In 2000 Sarah decided
to focus on the classical trumpet and subsequently won the Main Solo
Award from the Royal Overseas League Competition and the NFMS Award
for Young Concert Artists. Sarah has appeared as soloist in the Wigmore
Hall, St John’s Smith Square with John Lill and the Queen Elizabeth
Hall. Other notable performances include solos on both trumpet and
saxophone with the BBC Concert Orchestra, and work with the Wallace
Collection, Northern Sinfonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. She
has been broadcast on Classic FM, BBC Radio 2 and was recently heard
live on BBC Radio 3’s “In Tune”.
