Gillian Humphreys OBE (international singer & broadcaster, Concordia’s Founder & Artistic Director)
“I have collected my costumes over 60 years, and we have rails and rails of my history of my life from way, way back to my first ever evening dress. Everything will be sold I hope, to go into the Concordia Foundation’s work with young people and the hospitals. And I really hope people will enjoy them because they have been hardly worn and have been made of beautiful fabrics, the beading then was all done by hand and it’s just beautiful.
I worked with designer Paddy Dickie a lot and it was lovely because I knew what I could wear and certain things that I would need and also, I collected fabrics all around the world. And we would take the fabrics and we would create together. Paddy was brilliant in understanding me and actually making some exquisite things, which I wore at Windsor Castle and Buckingham, I mean, all these costumes came into the whole story of the collection.”

Roland Klein, Fashion & Interior Designer
“When Gillian told me she was trying to raise funds for Concordia Foundation by selling her costumes, of course I couldn’t resist the offer to be involved. I am very pleased to support such a great cause - introducing children to music through young audience projects, and offering help to aspiring young talents.
I had great fun curating this vintage sale. There are lots of beautiful clothes. I particularly selected pieces relating to current fashion trends. I was very impressed by the quality of the clothes. Gillian was a very particular costumer and she obviously picked good quality clothes - good quality clothes last a long time and good design last a long time. So a good dress that Gillian would have worn twenty years ago would still be a good dress today.”

"This vintage sale is a unique opportunity to acquire luxury couture vintage garments that have treaded the boards during the illustrious career of Gillian Humphreys OBE. There are about 500 stunning garments including rare designs by Lagerfeld, Armani, Escada, Jaeger, Hanae Mori, as well as especially designed one-off pieces by Paddy Dickie - all made with intricate craftsmanship from finest fabrics from around the world. Every penny from the proceeds will go towards Concordia Foundation’s projects: The Healing Power of Music at hospitals and Young Audiences at schools, along with platforms for artists and musicians’ development.
The short film we made to coincide with the launch of the vintage sale, is a journey through Gillian’s costume collection and gives a glimpse of her amazing work of building bridges through music and the arts, which she started many decades ago. Truly inspiring.”
